Summer Camp: Day and Overnight Programs

Here at Greenwood Stables, we believe that a young rider will learn best by being involved. That’s why almost all of our activities are hands-on with our horses.

The campers also have the advantage of working with high quality show horses and a professional horse trainer and riding instructor.

Campers range in age from 6 to 16 and all activities are structured to accomodate each individual campers' needs and age level.

Campers will participate in riding demonstrations, games, projects, and arts and crafts.

Topics that will be covered each week include:

• Safety with the Horses
• Grooming & Handling
• Conformation & Anatomy
• Equipment
• Tacking Up
• Stable Management
• Breeds, Colors & Markings
• Feed, Nutrition & Health
• Trailering, Show Prep, Bathing & Clipping
• Carriage Driving

Campers will watch demonstrations on the Western, Hunter and Saddleseat disciplines. They will each have a chance to try each riding style. Also, some weeks will have demonstrations by our farm blacksmith and veterinarian!

Hours:

Day Camp runs Monday through Friday, 10am to 3pm each day.

Overnight Camp runs Monday at 10am to Friday at 2pm.
