On February 2, 2009, we pulled a Trakehner mare out of a terrible situation in Loudon, NH and brought her back to our farm in Derry, NH. After being thoroughly examined by three licensed veterinarians, it was determined that euthanasia was not yet necessary. This mare still has fire in her eye and a will to survive.
Her body is emaciated, every bone clearly visible. She has ulcers in her mouth, open sores and puss-filled abscess all over her legs. She is very dehydrated and needless to say, extremely malnourished. Her body score condition is 1 (on a scale of 1-9); all three vets agreed that she needs to gain approximately 350 pounds.
Despite being horribly neglected, she has a wonderful, sweet personality and is exceptionally well behaved. Since she is starting a new journey in her life, we decided to name her “Faith”.
Rehabilitating “Faith” will take a great deal of time and resources. We are asking our friends in the community to support us in helping her recover from the trauma that she was forced to endure.
Donations of any amount, big or small, will help our efforts and are truly appreciated! They can be sent to us directly at Greenwood Stables, or to our veterinarian and feed supplier:

* Make sure to note that your donation is for “Faith at Greenwood Stables” and they will apply it towards her feed and rehabilitation costs.
We thank you for any support that you can give, and welcome everyone to stop by and visit this amazing horse! She truly is a sweetheart and we’re glad that we found her in time and can help her.
